Landing Page

Also known as: campaign landing page, PPC landing page

  • Custom Home Builders

Definition

A landing page is a web page built for one audience and one action, usually the destination for an ad, email, or campaign. Unlike a homepage, it removes distractions and focuses the visitor on a single next step. The ad earns the click; the landing page earns the consultation.

For custom home builders

A custom home buyer clicking an ad is often a year or more from breaking ground and decides in seconds whether your page is worth their time. Above the fold, the page should confirm the service and market, show one or two flagship homes, state the next step, and remove the main objection, for example a short, no-obligation planning call. Below the fold: two or three projects as proof, a summary of your process, and answers to the budget, timeline, and service-area questions.

Keep it to one conversion action, not three. For paid traffic, the form should be name, email, phone, and one qualifying question, four fields maximum. Build a separate landing page for each ad group, such as luxury homes, design-build, or build on your lot, so the page matches what the ad promised; that relevance also improves ad quality and lowers cost per click.

How to measure and improve it

  1. One page per ad group, matched to the ad's promise.
  2. One primary action, with the form short and close to proof.
  3. Put trust signals near the button, not in the footer. One specific testimonial outperforms five generic ones.
  4. A/B test one variable at a time, starting with the headline or call to action, with traffic split evenly.
  5. Run each test long enough: at least two full weeks, or until each version has several hundred visits.

Frequently asked questions

How many form fields should a landing page have?

As few as you need to start a qualified conversation. For a custom home builder's paid-traffic landing page, name, email, phone, and one qualifying question, four fields maximum, is a good default. A general contact or intake form can add a budget-range field.

What is the difference between a landing page and a homepage?

A homepage serves every visitor and offers many paths. A landing page serves one audience arriving from one source and asks for one action, which is why it usually converts paid traffic better.

What should I A/B test first on a landing page?

The headline or the call to action. Change one thing at a time so you know what caused the result. Free tools in HubSpot or Google Analytics are enough to start.
